World Cancer Day is an annual event organized by the International Union Against Cancer to raise global awareness of the dangers of cancer, through prevention, early detection and treatment methods. Cancer is the biggest health problem facing the world, and it is considered the most important cause of death globally. This World Day is a "unified initiative" led by the International Union Against Cancer (UICC) and aims to encourage cancer prevention, detection, diagnosis and treatment as soon as possible.
The overall goals of World Patient Safety Day are to enhance global understanding of patient safety, to intensify public participation in health care safety, and to advance global actions aimed at improving patient safety and reducing patient harm. The origin of the day is rooted in medicine's basic principle of "do no harm in the first place".
