The International Council of Nursing of the World Health Organization celebrated the recent associations that joined the Council, as part of the activities of the International Nursing Conference 2021, which was held in cooperation with the Emirates Nursing Association. Thus, the Saudi Nursing Association becomes the official representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the Council for the first time.
In a message sent by Mr. Howard Catton, CEO of the International Nursing Council, in which he expressed his great happiness to officially announce the joining of the Saudi Nursing Society after the vote of the majority of the members of the International Council of Nursing and the Council of Representatives of National Nursing Societies, which came after the Society met international standards in its ability to represent the Kingdom in councils International Nursing Profession and building an advanced professional practice for workers in health facilities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
On this occasion, the Director-General of the General Department of Nursing Affairs at the Ministry of Health and the Chairman of the Saudi Nursing Association Council, Dr. Muhammad Al-Ghamdi, extended sincere congratulations to the wise leadership, the country, and all nursing cadres, as this recognition came after continuous support and generous attention from the guardians and health leaders in the Kingdom. Added Dr. Al-Ghamdi – who is participating in the international conference in the UAE – said that the Kingdom’s accession to the International Nursing Council enhances the Kingdom’s position and important role through the participation of the international community in decision-making, in addition to its positive role in developing the nursing profession practiced by more than 200 thousand nurses, and highlighting the vital role The great importance of nursing cadres and making the nursing profession among the objectives of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
On the sidelines of the forum, HE the Minister of Health announced the launch of the Saudi Nurses Association. This is the first specialized association in the field of professional nursing. He also announced the launch of the “Excellence Nursing Award”.
