Students and staff should wash hands with running water and soap for between 40 and 60 seconds when they appear dirty. If they do not appear dirty, they can be rubbed with an alcohol-based disinfectant or washed with soap and water.

Make sure to educate students and staff about the importance of covering the mouth and nose with the upper part of the sleeves or a single-use tissue when coughing or sneezing, and dispose of this tissue immediately after use in a closed wastebasket
